Blatant zealotry. There's nothing like it.
This one's a tad larger than most, but it's suited to personal home pages where maybe speed isn't such an issue (ie. you don't care if people leave your site in a hurry). Besides, the suspenseful fade in is just as effective over a slow network connection, even if it makes you want to take a machete to your modem.
The images were of course created in the GIMP with varying degrees of Gaussian (RLE) blur. If you're viewing this on an 8-bit display under Netscape, switch image dithering on (Options->General Preferences->Images) and try reloading. You'll notice a vast improvement in fuzziness :)
